Pirelli has elected to bring the Soft C5 compound to the upcoming Formula 1 races in Baku and Imola. It is the first time the tyre maker has brought the C5 in 2023, mainly due to the tight corners at the Baku city circuit and long straights where cars reach up to 340kph. Pirelli expects thermal degradation to become a factor due to the high asphalt temperature at Azerbaijan. This is also the case for Imola when F1 is set to trial a new qualifying format with just one compound used in each session.
