Why Verstappen was happy not to start F1 career at Red Bull
Max Verstappen admits he was glad to start his F1 career with the Toro Rosso team in order to build up experience before joining the main Red Bull squad.
There will be several new faces on the grid in 2023, as Logan Sargeant, Oscar Piastri and Nyck de Vries step up to Williams, McLaren and AlphaTauri respectively.
While Verstappen is only 25 years old – younger than the 27-year-old de Vries – the two-time World Champion is now one of F1's more experienced drivers, having first made his debut as a rookie back in 2015.
As such, the Dutchman has offered some words of advice for Sargeant, as well as the other drivers entering the sport for the first time. Verstappen glad to start at Toro Rosso "Enjoy it," Verstappen told US broadcaster NBC .
