Dane Magnussen was let go by the American squad at the end of 2020, along with Romain Grosjean, to make way for Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin in 2021. The British-Thai driver found himself without a race seat in 2021 when Red Bull opted to replace him with Sergio Perez, though he was retained by the team as a test and reserve driver.
