Mick Schumacher has blamed the visibility in 2022-spec Formula 1 cars for his collision with Nicholas Latifi in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. On Lap 39 of 58 of the race at the Yas Marina Circuit, Schumacher attempted an overtake on Latifi's Williams at the Turn 5 hairpin with both running outside the points positions at the time. The former title sponsor of Williams , ROKiT, has been ordered by a US judge to pay more than £26 million to the Formula 1 team. ROKiT joined Williams as title sponsor ahead of the 2019 season and appeared on the cars of George Russell and Nicholas Latifi during pre-season testing in 2020. However, COVID-19 then hit, with the sponsor reneging on the deal and Williams not running the ROKiT livery once the season got underway in July 2020. In addition, Williams Technical Director FX Demaison will leave his post after joining in 2021. Logan Sargeant has issued an apology to Nyck de Vries over an incident that put them both out of the Australian Grand Prix. The collision occurred at the penultimate race restart on Lap 57, where several cars found themselves caught up in accidents, including Carlos Sainz and Fernando Alonso as well as the Alpine duo of Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon. Sargeant locked up as the race restart ed and made contact with de Vries, resulting in both cars retiring from the event. The Williams driver has explained what happened in the "strange" incident.
