Hamilton working to ensure Brad Pitt film is 'authentic' and 'believable'

Image
Lewis Hamilton says he is working to ensure that the upcoming untitled F1 Hollywood film project starring Brad Pitt is as " authentic " and " believable " as possible. Filming for the major motion picture will start this year and will take place at circuits on race weekends, with the first set to be at Silverstone for the British Grand Prix. Pitt will film on track in between sessions in a modified F2 car that has been provided by Mercedes, with the actor having been a guest of the team at some races including the US and Miami Grands Prix. Hamilton is working with Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski as a consultant on the film for the script. "I don't know absolutely every single plan of all the different things we can be doing within [the] paddock and all those sorts of things," he told media, including TheFOXposts.Com . "I'm more focused right now on making sure the script is where it needs to be; that's where al

Herbert backs Red Bull in 'understandable' Sky F1 boycott

Image
Ex- F1 driver Johnny Herbert says he understands Red Bull's decision to boycott British broadcaster Sky Sports during the 2022 season. At last season's Mexican Grand Prix, TheFOXposts.Com revealed that Red Bull refused to talk to Sky F1 employees due to remarks made on the coverage. Reporter Ted Kravitz had suggested that Lewis Hamilton was robbed of the 2021 title that ultimately went to Verstappen, adding that the Dutchman was unable to win a title in a "normal" way. Red Bull's boycott of Sky lasted a week, until Sky executives met with Red Bull management to resolve the issue. Speaking to the Daily Express , Herbert – who was a Sky F1 pundit from 2012 to 2022 – said he understood Red Bull's reasons for the boycott, adding that he had had to "tread carefully" on occasion during his punditry duties. Is Tsunoda ready for Red Bull? 'He needs another year'

AlphaTauri Team Principal Franz Tost says Yuki Tsunoda needs another year under his belt before he could reasonably be considered for a promotion to Red Bull. After a troubled 2022 season in which he was overshadowed by then-teammate Pierre Gasly and committed several unforced errors, Tsunoda has been quietly impressive in the opening months of 2023, scoring AlphaTauri's only two points of the season so far and outshining highly-rated new teammate Nyck de Vries. AlphaTauri effectively serve as Red Bull's B-team, with several drivers having graduated to Red Bull from the junior side over the years, including incumbent Max Verstappen, along with Sebastian Vettel, Daniel Ricciardo, Daniil Kvyat, Alex Albon and Gasly. But despite Tsunoda's improved form so far in what is his third season in F1 , Tost says the Japanese isn't ready for a promotion to Red Bull just yet. "Yuki doesn't need good words," Tost told media, including TheFOXposts.Com .

Zhou relishing competitive F1 field: It's all about the details

Image
Zhou Guanyu is relishing the increasingly com Pet itive nature of the F1 mid field battle, despite Alfa Romeo slipping backwards in the pack. After ending the 2022 season in sixth place, the squad currently sit in P8 of the 2023 Constructors' Championship. During an eventful Australian Grand Prix, Zhou took advantage of the chaos to claim two points, his only points result of the campaign so far. Teammate Valtteri Bottas has four points to his name, highlighting Alfa Romeo's difficult start to the year. Despite this, Zhou feels that there are plenty of opportunities ahead for him and the team to score more points. "It is indeed not easy to pick up points this season because you are facing five strong front-running teams," Zhou explained in an exclusive interview with TheFOXposts.Com . "So as a result, you have to focus on the opportunities you get, like in Australia, where a lot happened during the race. "Every race weekend, teams bring upda

F1 team explains how Red Bull makes the difference

Image
Haas have explained the areas in which they believe that Red Bull are making the difference in comparison to other teams. While the com Pet ition has been close between Aston Martin, Mercedes and Ferrari – as well as the midfield battle amongst much of the rest of the grid – Max Verstappen's team look to have a significant edge over their com Pet itors so far in 2023. Haas are one of those locked into the wide-ranging midfield fight. The American outfit's car is most similar to Ferrari's, but the Scuderia seem to be struggling to squeeze more out of their concept. Asked if the team at Haas have noticed that the Ferrari concept's development ceiling is lower, Juan Molina, Principal Aerodynamicist of the US outfit, pointed out the importance of something completely different. "It's not only the bodywork, but how that works with your floor and your rear wing, and how you have the different parts of the car," Molina told media, including TheFOXpos

Wolff outlines main aims for Mercedes Imola upgrade

Image
Toto Wolff has outlined the main aims of Mercedes upgrade package that will come at the next race in Imola. It has been a troubled start to the 2023 season for the team with the W14, as the team has struggled with the setup of their car concept. For Imola the team will bring an update package that Wolff has already branded "large surgery" aimed at discovering why their car is "poisonous" when it comes to setup. The Mercedes team boss has shed more light on what that upgrade package will achieve for the team, as it looks to change its fortunes. "I think what we're trying to do with the upgrade is to create a new baseline for us to take question marks and variables out of the equation, and to say 'This is not a problem now that we have gone to a different spec' and that is, for example, front suspension," said Wolff to media, including TheFOXposts.Com . "We are also looking at bodywork solutions that are - let's say - more

Team personnel forced to move as Imola rains continue

Image
Preparations for this weekend's Emilia Romagna Grand Prix continue to be interrupted by persistent heavy rain, as Alpine confirmed that several of their team personnel had had to move hotels due to the inclement weather. "A couple of members from our set-up crew have had to move hotel in Imola due to the adverse weather," said an Alpine source. "The main team (mechanics, engineers) are in a different hotel in a nearby town and are not impacted." Several areas surrounding Imola are currently subject to intense rainfall, which has caused flooding, and the heavy rain is expected to continue until approximately Wednesday evening. Sources present at the Imola track were told to leave the circuit yesterday, although this was believed to be a precautionary measure rather than due to any immediate risk. Images of the sodden F1 paddock also emerged online. In the town of Cesena, some 50km from Imola, residents of heavily flooded streets took to rooftops to

F1 teams facing Imola rain without tyre warmers

F1 teams are facing the prospect of racing in the wet at this weekend's Emilia Romagna Grand Prix without tyre warmers . In a sustainability push, F1 's official tyre supplier Pirelli are introducing a new full Wet compound for the Imola race that is designed to avoid the use of electric tyre blankets. Torrential rain over the last few days has caused severe disruption in the Emilia Romagna region, with widespread flooding causing power outages and leading to road closures. Though the rain is said to ease up from Wednesday evening onwards, it is likely that the Grand Prix weekend will be run in wet conditions, which will test Pirelli's new compound to the limit. "Starting from this Grand Prix, a new compound of full Wet tyre will be introduced which will not require the use of tyre warmers beforehand," said Mario Isola, Pirelli's Motorsport Director. "Track tests have shown even better performance than the previous Cinturato Blue full we

The races that never happened: F1's cancelled Grands Prix

Image
The cancellation of the 2023 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix is an historic first for Formula 1 in that it has become the first ever World Championship race to be cancelled prior to the weekend for weather concerns. Intense flooding and rainfall in Northern Italy led to F1 officially calling the event off on Wednesday 17th May after personnel were told not to come to the paddock owing to the conditions. With the series not wanting to place an additional burden on local emergency services in the relief and rescue efforts, the decision was made to cancel the event - with it seemingly unlikely that the race will take place this year. As such, it becomes the first race in 1,084 World Championship Grands Prix to be pulled before cars hit the track owing to the weather in what was the only conscientious decision that could be taken as running a major international sporting event in the middle of a disaster area would be inconceivable. But it is not the first F1 Grand Prix to ever be c

Mercedes confirm upgrade plan after Imola cancellation

Mercedes will introduce its long-awaited upgrade package at the Monaco Grand Prix. The Silver Arrows have pointed towards a radical and "visible" change to the W14 with the package originally intended for this weekend's Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. But the Imola event was cancelled following intense rain and flooding in surrounding areas, with resources now focused towards the local recovery mission. This has left upgrade plans somewhat in the air with Monaco providing a unique challenge for teams and drivers, with its demand for maximum downforce not lending itself towards an event primed for the introduction of upgrade packages. It has been confirmed to TheFOXposts.Com that Mercedes will not delay the arrival of the changes until the Spanish Grand Prix, however, with the new-look W14 set to take to the streets of the Principality. The Brackley-based outfit has been forthright in its criticism of the car since the start of the season and will hope the upd

Allison: Questions about Elliott show a 'lack of F1 understanding'

Image
James Allison says the idea that he won't have i NFL uence on Mercedes until the 2024 car "lack understanding " of how Formula 1 works after he replaced Mike Elliott. Allison resumed his role as Technical Director having swapped roles with now Chief Technical Officer Elliott in April in a job-swap that both men felt would best suit their particular skillsets. It came after the team committed to abandoning the 'zero sidepod' concept which had become inextricably linked with Elliott's directorship. However, Allison highlighted the effort of all those at the factory instead of the team's fortunes being placed in the hand of just himself or Elliott. The iconic race that ended the career of F1's last full-time American

Image
The 2007 European Grand Prix was one of the craziest Formula 1 races of recent times. It featured a sudden rainstorm that shocked the field, one unfancied leader and a ding-dong battle for the win that continued on into the cool down room before the podium. It was the first ever Grand Prix of his fledging career that Lewis Hamilton did not feature on the podium, and was also the penultimate win for Fernando Alonso at McLaren. But amid the chaos was a story at the back of the grid for the small Toro Rosso squad and a American driver who could not quite live up to his reputation, or indeed surname. This was the 28th and final Grand Prix start for Scott Speed - with a infamous bust-up with Franz Tost easing a certain S.Vettel into the seat for the next round in Hungary. Stella explains reason behind McLaren 'DNA' problems

Image
Andrea Stella believes that problems with the "DNA" of McLaren's car may be linked to outdated methodologies within the team, as well as using an older wind tunnel. The squad have faced a difficult start to the 2023 F1 season, with the MCL60 continuing to face the mid-corner handling issues that were previously prevalant in 2021 and 2022. Stella – who was promoted to Team Principal ahead of the current campaign – acknowledges that the "pattern" does not appear to have changed. Pattern 'associated to infrastructure' "I have to say that it seems like the pattern hasn't changed," Stella told media, including TheFOXposts.Com . "I know that we talked in some of the previous conversations that it's more a matter of aerodynamic efficiency. It's true because if you see the time we lose in the straight, we do lose because of drag. "Overall, if you have more load without changing the characteristics, you wo

Hill: De Vries facing 'typical' Red Bull routine amid Marko comments

Image
Damon Hill believes that Nyck de Vries is facing a " typical routine " from the Red Bull stable amid speculation over his future in F1 . Rumours emerged after the Miami Grand Prix that de Vries' seat at AlphaTauri could be under threat, with some reports suggesting that Daniel Ricciardo could be in the frame to replace him should his performance not improve. While this idea was denied by Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko , the Austrian did state that de Vries is on a "yellow card" and "needs to improve" in order to pose more of a challenge to teammate Yuki Tsunoda. With Red Bull having made driver changes mid-season in the past, Hill has been reflecting on whether Marko's "tough" approach yields results. Hill on Marko "[Marko is] a tough teacher, isn't he?" Hill told the F1 Nation podcast. "He's a tough kind of master for drivers and he always has been. I don't know where it comes from.
