FIA confirm departure of top executive after six months

It has been confirmed that Shaila-Ann Rao will depart her role at the FIA after six months in the position. Rao was appointed Interim Secretary General for Sport following the exit of Pet er Bayer in June, having previously been recruited as Director in the Office of the President. She also previously held the role of Legal Director at the FIA from mid-2016 to the end of 2018. Additionally, Rao was formerly the legal director of the Mercedes F1 Team and special advisor to Toto Wolff. During her time in the role, Rao was said to have been a key figure in the introduction of a contentious technical directive to address porpoising. She was also embroiled in the budget cap controversy, with Rao having made the call to Christian Horner to inform him that Red Bull had exceeded the cost cap in 2021 following their 2022 championship victory. © Dieter R...

Leclerc shares reaction to Binotto's Ferrari departure

Charles Leclerc has given his reaction following the news of Mattia Binotto 's departure from Ferrari . It was confirmed on 29 November that Binotto will leave his role at the end of December, with a replacement set to be finalised in the new year. In light of the announcement, Leclerc has paid tribute to Binotto in a social media post. "Thank you for everything, Mattia," Leclerc wrote on Instagram alongside of photo of the pair together. "We spent four very intense years together, full of great satisfaction and also, inevitably, moments that tested us. Leclerc gives verdict on Ferrari 'reset' fears after Binotto departure

Charles Leclerc is optimistic of Ferrari being able to survive a restructuring of leadership, following the news of Mattia Binotto's departure from the team. A strong start to Ferrari 's 2022 season failed to materialise into a sustained championship challenge, with the team almost falling to P3 in the Constructors' Championship behind a recovering Mercedes team. Binotto ultimately resigned from his role as Team Principal at the end of the season, with Ferrari now looking to announce a replacement in the new year, which will their fifth in the last ten years. Ferrari announce new team principal after Binotto departure

Ferrari have announced that Frederic Vasseur has been appointed as their new Formula 1 Team Principal, replacing Mattia Binotto. Vasseur left Alfa Romeo after six seasons on Tuesday morning to take up the post following Binotto's departure from the helm in Maranello, a post he had held since 2019. Ferrari bosses John Elkann and Benedetto Vigna were unhappy after Binotto failed to lead a sustained championship push in 2022, with his resignation being tendered after the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. In his place, Ferrari have acted quickly to appoint Vasseur, who also had a brief spell in charge of the Renault (now Alpine) squad in 2016. He will join Ferrari as Team Principal and General Manager on January 9th, 2023 - which suggests less corporate responsibility will be placed on Vasseur with a Managing Director or CEO being brought in above him as Binotto had held the roles of Team Principal and Managing Director. Brown reveals opportunities for McLaren in Seidl's departure

Zak Brown believes Andreas Seidl's departure from the McLaren Formula 1 team has opened up "opportunities" within the race team. Seidl resigned from his post as Team Principal in December to take over as CEO of the Sauber group with Audi - a member of the Volkswagen group Seidl used to work for - set to come in for 2026. One of Seidl's first tasks is to search for a new Team Principal at the Alfa Romeo (Sauber) team, with Frederic Vasseur heading to Ferrari to replace Mattia Binotto. In Seidl's place, Brown opted to promote Andrea Stella to his first team principal role in F1 from the racing director role he'd held since 2019.
