Valtteri Bottas admits that Alfa Romeo's "main focus " needs to be on making a step forwards after failing to score points at the Miami Grand Prix. After struggling in the midfield battle so far in 2023, the team looked to have had a more positive day during qualifying at the Miami International Autodrome, with Bottas reaching Q3 and starting from P10 on the grid. However, the Finn was unable to match this on race day and slipped out of a points-paying position, eventually ending the event in P13. While Bottas feels there were good signs to take away from the weekend, he believes that Alfa Romeo have "a lot of work to do" in order to be regularly fighting for points again. F1 Chief Technical Officer Pat Symonds has outlined that key areas that newly appointed Williams Team Principal James Vowles needs to focus on. Prior to taking up his role at Formula 1 , Symonds was the Williams team's Chief Technical Officer, coming in at the start of the hybrid era in 2014 until 2016. During that period the squad achieved 14 podiums, as well as one pole at the 2014 Austrian Grand Prix.
