Alonso insists he remains 'grateful' to Alpine despite 'frustration'

Fernando Alonso insists he remains " grateful " to Alpine, despite feeling " frustration " over elements of his second year with the team. Alonso made his comeback to F1 with the French manufacturer in 2021, having pursued other categories of motorsport for the two years prior following his departure from McLaren at the end of 2018. The two-time World Champion outscored teammate Esteban Ocon during his first season with the squad, but finished behind the Frenchman in 2022. Alonso has been vocal about the reliability problems he experienced throughout the campaign, as well as criticising Ocon after they made contact during the Brazilian Grand Prix Sprint race. Meanwhile, the Spaniard's announcement of his move to Aston Martin for 2023 seemed to take Alpine by surprise, leading to a much-publicised contract controversy over the services of Oscar Piastri. Despite all of this, Alonso has suggested that he will look back on his time with the team fo...

Vasseur insists Ferrari not in 'panic mode'

Ferrari boss Frederic Vasseur insists that the team are not in "panic mode" over their form in the first races of the 2023 F1 season. After a difficult start to the campaign, the Scuderia had a more positive outing during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix weekend, with Charles Leclerc claiming pole position for both the Sprint race and Sunday's main event. However, the SF-23 was unable to match the pace of Red Bull at the Baku City Circuit. Sergio Perez took victory in both events, while Leclerc finished in P2 and P3 respectively. While Vasseur acknowledges that he would prefer for Ferrari to have had a better start to the year, the Frenchman has also praised the squad for their reaction to the situation. Ben Sulayem insists F1 can 'sustain' itself by welcoming new manufacturers

FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem insists that Formula 1 needs to attract new manufacturers - and in doing so can " sustain " itself. With Audi already set to join the championship in 2026, Ben Sulayem targeted launching an 'Expression of Interest' process earlier this month, with a General Motors-backed Andretti Autosport following up by stating their intention to follow the process a couple of days later. Current teams are resistant to any new entries onto the grid - which can feature a maximum of 26 cars, or three new squads. However, speaking at the Dakar Rally, Ben Sulayem was firm in stating that new manufacturer involvement would be crucial for F1's sustainability in the long run. Viewed by others: Aston Martin ...
