Honda thank Verstappen with valuable gift for double F1 titles

Max Verstappen has been presented with a valuable gift from Honda in honour of his championship success. The Dutchman joined teammate Sergio Perez and a host of other motorsport names – including MotoGP's Marc Marquez – at the Honda Racing Thanks Day, held at Japan's Motegi circuit. As part of the celebrations, Honda chairman Seiji Kuraishi expressed his thanks to Verstappen following his back-to-back championship victories in 2021 and 2022. This then led to a grey Honda NSX Type S being presented to Verstappen, with Honda Racing president Koji Watanabe handing over the keys to the 25-year-old. "It's an amazing car, so [I'm] very proud to receive it. Thank you very much," Verstappen said in response, before being invited to try out his new car. Honda takes important step towards F1 return

Image
Honda have taken a step towards a possible F1 return by registering interest with the FIA for the 2026 engine rules. The manufacturer officially exited the sport at the end of 2021 to focus on electrification, but agreed to continue to provide technical assistance to the Red Bull Powertrains department with the current power units being raced by Red Bull and AlphaTauri. Due to the success of the partnership, the initial technical agreement – which had provided for support until the end of 2023 – was extended until the end of 2025 over the summer. Red Bull Powertrains are set to manufacture their own power units in line with new engine regulations set to be introduced in 2026. However, speculation over a possible Honda return increased after plans for a Red Bull and Porsche partnership for 2026 fell through. As TheFOXposts.Com previously revealed, up to seven brands could enter the championship under next-gen regulations after the deadline was extended to mid-November,...

Red Bull power units officially rebranded for 2023

The name of Red Bull's power unit has officially been changed on the FIA entry list, pointing to the increased marketing collaboration with Formula 1 engine supplier Honda. It was announced back at the Japanese Grand Prix that Honda branding would have increased visibility on the Red Bull cars from the Suzuka race onwards. A successful Red Bull- Honda partnership officially ended in 2021, with the supplier ending on a high with Max Verstappen's championship-winning finale. Honda had originally planned to back away from F1 altogether, with Red Bull registering their power supply as RBPT (Red Bull Powertrains), albeit with a technical partnership with Honda , for the 2022 season. However, the Japanese company's increased visibility now involves a change to the name of the powertrain make, which will be Honda-RBPT in 2023. With the power unit regulations set to change in 2026, Honda officially registered their interest with the FIA, pointing to a possible F...

'No reason' why Alonso won't be at Aston Martin-Honda - Krack

Image
Mike Krack says there is "no reason " why Fernando Alonso should still not be racing with Aston Martin in 2026 when their technical partnership with Honda begins. It was announced on Wednesday that Aston would ditch customer Mercedes power units and link up with Honda for F1's new power unit regulations in 2026 as the Japanese manufacturer returns yet again for an assault on Grand Prix racing. Aston driver Alonso - who would turn 45 midway through 2026 - has a troubled history with Honda owing to their spell together during the McLaren-Honda days of 2015-17. Alonso publicly blasted the power unit at Honda 's home race in Japan in 2015, calling it a "GP2 engine" and was also blocked from using Honda power during his 2020 Indianapolis 500 campaign. Honda themselves are open to working with Alonso once again - with Krack confident the two-time World Champion will still be in the car - if he wants. Viewed by others: ...

What Honda's new engine deal means for Verstappen

Image
Honda have officially announced that they will be back in Formula 1 in 2026 as engine supplier to Aston Martin. The Japanese manufacturer will be joining forces with Aston, who are set to ditch Mercedes units after a long association stretching back to the early Force India days, with Honda being enticed back to Grand Prix racing yet again. They originally joined in 2015 with McLaren before that troubled relationship was ended and a deal with Red Bull (with Toro Rosso to start with in 2018) was struck. Honda power would propel Max Verstappen to the 2021 title, but the decision to withdraw had already been taken as efforts on the electric vehicle division was prioritised. They are assisting Red Bull Powertrains – with that agreement set to remain in place until the end of the 2025 season – when Ford will come in and partner the Milton Keynes squad.
