Honda thank Verstappen with valuable gift for double F1 titles

Max Verstappen has been presented with a valuable gift from Honda in honour of his championship success.

The Dutchman joined teammate Sergio Perez and a host of other motorsport names – including MotoGP's Marc Marquez – at the Honda Racing Thanks Day, held at Japan's Motegi circuit.

As part of the celebrations, Honda chairman Seiji Kuraishi expressed his thanks to Verstappen following his back-to-back championship victories in 2021 and 2022.

This then led to a grey Honda NSX Type S being presented to Verstappen, with Honda Racing president Koji Watanabe handing over the keys to the 25-year-old.

"It's an amazing car, so [I'm] very proud to receive it. Thank you very much," Verstappen said in response, before being invited to try out his new car.

F1 teams facing Imola rain without tyre warmers

F1 teams are facing the prospect of racing in the wet at this weekend's Emilia Romagna Grand Prix without tyre warmers . In a sustainability push, F1 's official tyre supplier Pirelli are introducing a new full Wet compound for the Imola race that is designed to avoid the use of electric tyre blankets. Torrential rain over the last few days has caused severe disruption in the Emilia Romagna region, with widespread flooding causing power outages and leading to road closures. Though the rain is said to ease up from Wednesday evening onwards, it is likely that the Grand Prix weekend will be run in wet conditions, which will test Pirelli's new compound to the limit. Max Verstappen has detailed why he believes street circuits have become "the worst experience" and is against F1 prioritising new street circuit locations.
