Schumacher family lashes out at Steiner: Haas never satisfied with Mick

Image
Ralf Schumacher has lashed out at Haas Team Principal Gunther Steiner, claiming the team is unlikely to retain Mick Schumacher for next year and that they were "never satisfied " with his performances. Schumacher's seat at the team has been in doubt over the last couple of weeks, with speculation that he could be replaced by Nico Hulkenberg for 2023. As such Ralf believes Steiner's behaviour towards nephew Mick in recent weeks has not been 'positive' and has criticised his running of the team. "I don't think Haas is going to decide in Mick's favour, otherwise they would have done that a long time ago," he told Sky Sports . "I think the way the team is dealing with Mick and the 'openness' of Team Principal Guenther Steiner - I'll just describe it politely - is not necessarily positive." Viewed by others: ...

Ralf Schumacher advises Mick on next F1 steps

Ralf Schumacher has advised Mick Schumacher to take the reported offer of a Mercedes reserve driver role for next season. With Haas electing to sign Nico Hulkenberg to partner Kevin Magnussen for next season, Mick Schumacher was left without an F1 race seat for 2023. In the weeks running up to Haas' decision, Mercedes ' Team Principal Toto Wolff expressed his interest in signing the 23-year-old, if he became available. Mick Schumacher's uncle, pundit and ex-F1 driver Ralf Schumacher, believes that Mercedes' educational gains would be too good to turn down. "For Mick, this would definitely be a sensible step, because he can work with a team that has a lot of experience and can help Mick progress," Schumacher said in his column for Sky Sports Germany . "The processes at Haas and Mercedes are different and that is something Mick can benefit from. "It would definitely be important for him to work with a team like Mercedes, to do simulato...

Schumacher: We can't rule out a Vettel comeback

Ralf Schumacher has suggested that Sebastian Vettel could be tempted back into Formula 1 in the future, despite his recent retirement. The Aston Martin driver took part in his final race at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, after calling time on his F1 career. In his column for Sky Sports Germany , ex-F1 driver Schumacher paid tribute to Vettel's achievements, and suggested that his heavy involvement in the bigger issues surrounding the sport could have taken a toll on the four-time World Champion. "Sebastian Vettel is a four-time world champion who has achieved great things. Formula 1 will miss Sebastian Vettel as a person," wrote Schumacher. "Unfortunately, things didn't go quite so well for him with Aston Martin. I would have wished differently for him. "What else do I associate with Sebastian Vettel? In addition to sport, Sebastian had environmental protection high on his agenda. "He took a very critical approach to this. Environmental pro...

Michael and Ralf Schumacher's home town facing demolition

The home town of seven-time Formula 1 World Champion Michael Schumacher is set to be demolished - although the famous karting track will be unaffected. Schumacher and his Grand Prix-winning brother Ralf grew up in Kerpen-Manheim, west of Cologne and near the Belgian and Dutch borders. The town has fallen into disrepair, with only a handful of residents remaining, and it is now set to be demolished for mining excavations. Located nearby is the massive Hambach mine, source of Lignite, a form of brown coal used in power generation, but is regarded as one of the most polluting forms. In the demolition , the famous karting track where Schumacher raced a young Lewis Hamilton in 2001 will survive as will the local church and the house belonging to Schumacher's parents. Auto Bild report that the first rental apartment that Michael and Corinna Schumacher shared no longer exists. Source: https://thefoxposts.com/michael-and-ralf-schumacher-s-home-town...

Ralf Schumacher tips Mick for future Hamilton replacement at Mercedes

Image
Ralf Schumacher believes there could be a future in store for nephew Mick Schumacher , after the German signed on as their reserve driver for 2023. Mick was replace d at Haas by fellow compatriot Nico Hulkenberg at the end of the season, owing to inconsistencies with his performance as the team break into the midfield. The move to Mercedes as a reserve was seen as a stop-gap, as he potentially eyes a return to the grid with Audi or another midfield team in the future. But Ralf believes there could be an opportunity for him at Mercedes with Lewis Hamilton's contract expiring at the end of 2023. "It's a great opportunity for Mick. He can look over the shoulder of a top team at work and learn a lot," Ralf said in an interview Sport1.de . "And he's not just a development driver, where he can certainly help Mercedes return to the top in the simulator; as a reserve driver, he has to replace a regular driver in case he drops out. We've had this s...
