Kubica 'comfortable' with F1 career potentially ending

Image
Robert Kubica says that he doesn't know when he will next drive a Formula 1 car, conceding that his career as a driver could be over. The 2008 Canadian Grand Prix winner last raced competitively in F1 with Alfa Romeo in 2021 for the Dutch and Italian Grands Prix, after Kimi Raikkonen tested positive for Covid. Kubica was later given practice outings at Paul Ricard and Yas Marina in 2022 with Alfa Romeo, as part of terms with title sponsor Orlen - a Polish oil company. When asked if it could be his last time driving, Kubica said: "I don't know" to media, including TheFOXposts.Com , but acknowledged that he would want to be useful to teams with any future deal. "The only reason I'm still here is that I get a chance to drive sometimes as reserve, but this weekend probably will be the end. "There is our main partner of Alfa Romeo, Orlen. We need to first decide what they want to do and then probably I will talk with all the parties. "...

Jack Doohan has hailed his decision to leave Red Bull for Alpine as the "best" of his career so far. The Australian had previously been a member of the Red Bull Junior Team since 2017, but opted to make the move to the Alpine Academy ahead of the 2022 season. Since then, Doohan – who finished P6 in this year's Formula 2 championship, in which he competed for the Virtuosi Racing squad – has been given two Free Practice 1 drives for the Alpine F1 team, as well as getting behind the wheel at the Abu Dhabi post-season test. As such, the 19-year-old feels that he made the right decision in switching teams. Doohan 'grateful' for Red Bull to Alpine switch When asked how being a part of Alpine had impacted him in 2022, Doohan told media, including TheFOXposts.Com : "I think massively. Gasly has no regrets over Red Bull career: I'm stronger than I was

Image
Pierre Gasly insists that he has no regrets over his time with the Red Bull stable ahead of his impending switch to Alpine for 2023. The Frenchman first arrived in the sport back in 2017 with the then-called Toro Rosso outfit before being promoted to the main Red Bull team for the 2019 F1 season. However, midway through the campaign, Gasly was demoted back down to Toro Rosso after struggling to match the pace of teammate Max Verstappen. He went on to rebuild at the squad – now known as AlphaTauri – and claimed his debut Formula 1 victory at the 2020 Italian Grand Prix. Gasly's long stint with the Red Bull family is now coming to a close and, despite the ups and downs, he admits that he wouldn't change anything about the experience. Gasly: I'm a much stronger driver than I was When asked if his exit from the outfit sparked any feelings of not having had the chances he des...

Max Verstappen admits he was glad to start his F1 career with the Toro Rosso team in order to build up experience before joining the main Red Bull squad. There will be several new faces on the grid in 2023, as Logan Sargeant, Oscar Piastri and Nyck de Vries step up to Williams, McLaren and AlphaTauri respectively. While Verstappen is only 25 years old – younger than the 27-year-old de Vries – the two-time World Champion is now one of F1's more experienced drivers, having first made his debut as a rookie back in 2015. As such, the Dutchman has offered some words of advice for Sargeant, as well as the other drivers entering the sport for the first time. Verstappen glad to start at Toro Rosso "Enjoy it," Verstappen told US broadcaster NBC . "He's in a team where he's not going to fight for wins, but it's maybe good because, in the first year, you don't ...

Aston Martin drive r Lance Stroll must end teammate Fernando Alonso 's Formula 1 career , one World Champion has claimed. Alonso is the most experienced driver in F1 history, and joined the Aston squad for 2023 after replacing Sebastian Vettel who retired, with Stroll remaining as an incumbent driver. A turnaround in fortunes for the team means they are now fighting for podiums having gate-crashed the so-called 'big three' teams, with Alonso banking a trio of third places in the opening races of the season. Stroll has sixth, DNF and fourth place results to his name in 2023 - but 1996 champion Damon Hill believes the Canadian's goal must be to "end" Alonso's long career - just as George Russell is trying to do at Mercedes to Lewis Hamilton. The iconic race that ended the career of F1's last full-time American

Image
The 2007 European Grand Prix was one of the craziest Formula 1 races of recent times. It featured a sudden rainstorm that shocked the field, one unfancied leader and a ding-dong battle for the win that continued on into the cool down room before the podium. It was the first ever Grand Prix of his fledging career that Lewis Hamilton did not feature on the podium, and was also the penultimate win for Fernando Alonso at McLaren. But amid the chaos was a story at the back of the grid for the small Toro Rosso squad and a American driver who could not quite live up to his reputation, or indeed surname. This was the 28th and final Grand Prix start for Scott Speed - with a infamous bust-up with Franz Tost easing a certain S.Vettel into the seat for the next round in Hungary.
