IndyCar champion gets F1 role with McLaren

IndyCar champion Alex Palou will be McLaren 's reserve driver for 2023, acting as the teams reserve alongside Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. The role comes after the 25 year-old took part in FP1 at the United States Grand Prix with the team this year. He also tested the 2021 MCL35M in Barcelona and Spielberg as part of McLaren's Driver Development testing programme. Palou, who became the first Spanish driver to win the IndyCar champion ship in 2021, says he is looking forward to "continuing his development" as a McLaren driver. “I’m excited to be part of the McLaren team as one of their reserve drivers in 2023," he said. "I’ve been behind the wheel of both the MCL35M and MCL36 and it has been a great experience, so I can’t wait for the involvement with next year’s car. IndyCar champion Will Power sustained injuries in an incident in a private karting race. Just a couple of months after taking his second IndyCar title, the Australian released onboard footage of a small karting race. From the shared helmet camera footage, Power races side-by-side through a double-right corner. The drivers collide at the second right-hand corner, which pitches Power into a roll before landing on the grass runoff. Along with the video, Power comments on the injuries he sustained: "This was a race a few weeks ago... Got some broken ribs but was ok otherwise." Red Bull sign champion as a reserve driver

2019 British Formula 4 champion Zane Maloney has been signed by Red Bull to become a reverse Formula 1 driver . Barbadian racer Maloney also joins the famed Red Bull young driver programme that the likes of Sebastian Vettel, Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo all graduated from. The 19-year-old com Pet ed in FIA Formula 3 throughout the 2022 season, finishing as runner-up with three wins to Victor Martins by just five points after the Monza finale was halted with five laps to go after an accident. 2022 Formula 2 champion Felipe Drugovich says he would be interested in racing hypercars or in Super Formula alongside his Aston Martin commitments in '23. As defending F2 champion, Brazilian racer Drugovich is banned from returning to the series, and with no Formula 1 race seats available, signed a reserve driver deal with Aston Martin to shadow Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll.
