'No reason' why Alonso won't be at Aston Martin-Honda - Krack

Image
Mike Krack says there is "no reason " why Fernando Alonso should still not be racing with Aston Martin in 2026 when their technical partnership with Honda begins. It was announced on Wednesday that Aston would ditch customer Mercedes power units and link up with Honda for F1's new power unit regulations in 2026 as the Japanese manufacturer returns yet again for an assault on Grand Prix racing. Aston driver Alonso - who would turn 45 midway through 2026 - has a troubled history with Honda owing to their spell together during the McLaren-Honda days of 2015-17. Alonso publicly blasted the power unit at Honda 's home race in Japan in 2015, calling it a "GP2 engine" and was also blocked from using Honda power during his 2020 Indianapolis 500 campaign. Honda themselves are open to working with Alonso once again - with Krack confident the two-time World Champion will still be in the car - if he wants. Viewed by others: ...

Hamilton, Leclerc address Ferrari 2024 contract rumours

Image
Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc have both addressed rumours that the seven-time Formula 1 World Champion could join Ferrari. Hamilton has long been linked with making a switch to Maranello, with reports this week of a bumper offer coming from Ferrari to lure him to Italy for 2024, with his Mercedes contract expiring at the end of 2023. Team boss Frederic Vasseur has flatly denied an approach being made to Hamilton - with the drivers also pouring cold water over the claims themselves. 2023 F1 Monaco Grand Prix – Free Practice 3 results

It is advantage Max Verstappen heading into Monaco Grand Prix Qualifying as he set the pace in the third and final Formula 1 practice session. A 1:12.776 was good enough for the World Champion to cement top spot heading into Saturday afternoon's session, as he led a Red Bull one-two. Sergio Perez was just 0.073s behind with Lance Stroll an encouraging third for Aston Martin as Fernando Alonso could not get a clean lap owing to traffic and a late VSC for the stopped Kevin Magnussen. The session was red-flagged in the closing minutes after Lewis Hamilton crashed at Portier, and although the front-left of the Mercedes needs to be replaced, he escaped further damage. Alfa Romeo to join Haas in 2024 F1 title deal

Image
Alfa Romeo are set to join Haas in a Formula 1 title deal from the 2024 season, potentially worth $20 million per annum, RacingNews365 has learnt. At the end of 2023, the Alfa title sponsorship of the Sauber team will conclude, with the Swiss name returning to the grid as they prepare for Audi's arrival in '26. However, Alfa are keen to remain involved in Grand Prix racing, and have held positive talks with Guenther Steiner's Haas outfit - whose current title sponsor Moneygram features similar colours to the Italian brand. Both teams are currently customers of Ferrari and receive components including power units from the Maranello team. RacingNews365 understands that discussions between the two parties were planned for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix but that they were instead held in Monaco after the Imola event was cancelled. Multiple sources with direct knowledge of the negotiations did not deny the rumours of potentially a two-year deal also taking in 20...

Verstappen backs Mercedes decision over Monaco upgrades

Image
Max Verstappen has backed the decision of Mercedes to introduce their huge Formula 1 upgrade package at the Monaco Grand Prix instead of waiting until Spain. The much vaunted upgrade s of the W14 finally broke cover in Monte Carlo on Thursday as Mercedes unveiled the package that was intended to debut at the cancelled Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. Instead of waiting until a traditional circuit in Barcelona next weekend, Mercedes have opted to put the revised sidepods and front suspension on the W14 for the race in Monaco to gain as much data as possible before heading to Spain. It is a decision Verstappen has fully backed as Mercedes hope the package will get them into a position to reel Red Bull in. Verstappen backs Mercedes "I would always put it on the car as soon as possible rather than leaving it in the garage," Verstappen told media, including TheFOXposts.Com , in Monaco. "It is really difficult to tell [what to expect from Mercedes ], I thi...
