Perez 'regrets' post-Brazil GP comments aimed at Verstappen

Image
Sergio Perez has admitted that he regret s his comments that were aimed at Max Verstappen in the aftermath of Red Bull's team orders controversy. Following Verstappen's refusal to let Perez by for P6 in the Brazilian GP, the Mexican responded by saying on the team radio that everybody would see Verstappen for 'who he really is'. Perez was just as frustrated in the media sessions after the race, adding that he believed he deserved more from Verstappen after playing the role of 'number two' driver in his time with Red Bull. Speaking ahead of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Perez was asked by RacingNews365 whether or not he would retract his Brazil radio comments if he could. "Yes, obviously Formula 1 is a very emotional sport, and there is no other sport where you can hear yourself live, it's only in Formula 1 that this happens," Perez responded. "There are a lot of emotions going on in a lot of things that you say. "I obv...

Brown slams Szafnauer's 'inaccurate and unfair' Piastri comments

Image
Zak Brown has labelled Otmar Szafnauer's comments about Oscar Piastri in the wake of a dispute over his services as "inaccurate and unfair". The row erupted when Alpine named Piastri – who had been serving as their reserve driver – as part of their 2023 line-up following Fernando Alonso's exit for Aston Martin, only for Piastri to later deny that he had signed for Alpine. Piastri had agreed a deal to race at McLaren as Daniel Ricciardo's replacement and the case was taken to the Contract Recognition Board, with the verdict going in McLaren's favour. It was then confirmed in September that Piastri would join Lando Norris at the Woking-based squad next season. Following the controversy, Alpine boss Szafnauer said that he had "expected more loyalty" from Piastri, and suggested that there had been a lack of "integrity", something that Brown takes issue with. ...

De Vries responds to Tost's brutal 'no trust' comments

Nyck de Vries has responded to the comments made by AlphaTauri team boss Franz Tost, who claimed that he no longer had trust in his engineers after a poor start to their season. AlphaTauri are yet to score points so far in 2023, with Yuki Tsunoda coming close in Saudi Arabia before getting overtaken by Kevin Magnussen in the closing stages of the race. Tost had criticised the engineers of the AT04 earlier in the weekend, claiming that the severe lack of downforce is what is stopping them from progressing further up the field. De Vries claims he felt no change in atmosphere within the team after Tost made the comments . "I honestly think the vibe within the team is great and I felt no difference post certain comments that have been made," said De Vries. "I think things can be taken a little bit out of context and we were all kind of scratching our heads. We all want to be as quick as Red Bull that is currently winning and dominating." View...

Russell reacts to Verstappen's 'potential World Champion' comments

Image
George Russell has given his reaction to Max Verstappen calling him a " potential World Champion". Verstappen recently spoke of how impressed he was by Russell during their early days of racing each other in karting, leading the Dutchman to suggest that Russell has the capability to claim a title in Formula 1. "George is part of the generation with Lando [Norris] and Charles [Leclerc] and me that grew up together," Verstappen told the Daily Mail . "I raced against George a bit in karting, though he's a year younger. You could see straight away he was good. "It came naturally to him – he didn't need a lot of laps to be quick. "He has the potential to be a World Champion." Russell: A handful of drivers are World Champion worthy Russell admits that he is flattered by the comments, but also feels that several drivers on the grid could be classed as possible World Champions of the future. "Obviously it...

Horner 'flattered' by Hamilton car comments

Image
Christian Horner has responded to Lewis Hamilton 's comments on the RB19, after the Mercedes driver claimed it was the "fastest car I've ever seen in Formula 1 ". The RB19 has shown that it has superior straight-line speed in 2023, particularly in Saudi Arabia and Australia where Max Verstappen appeared to be significantly faster than Hamilton using DRS. "It's obviously very flattering, particularly considering some of the cars that Lewis has driven in recent history," Horner told media, including TheFOXposts.Com . But while they have shown their advantage, Red Bull have not been without their problems so far. A difficult weekend in Bahrain left them chasing car set-up, then reliability problems in Saudi Arabia and Australia showed how potentially fragile the RB19 can be during one of the longest seasons in F1 History . Horner says the team are "conscious" of this as they look to extend their advantage throughout the year. ...
