Perez 'regrets' post-Brazil GP comments aimed at Verstappen

Image
Sergio Perez has admitted that he regret s his comments that were aimed at Max Verstappen in the aftermath of Red Bull's team orders controversy. Following Verstappen's refusal to let Perez by for P6 in the Brazilian GP, the Mexican responded by saying on the team radio that everybody would see Verstappen for 'who he really is'. Perez was just as frustrated in the media sessions after the race, adding that he believed he deserved more from Verstappen after playing the role of 'number two' driver in his time with Red Bull. Speaking ahead of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Perez was asked by RacingNews365 whether or not he would retract his Brazil radio comments if he could. "Yes, obviously Formula 1 is a very emotional sport, and there is no other sport where you can hear yourself live, it's only in Formula 1 that this happens," Perez responded. "There are a lot of emotions going on in a lot of things that you say. "I obv...

Hamilton has no Abu Dhabi 2021 regrets upon return

Lewis Hamilton says he has no regrets about the controversial 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix as he return s nearly one year later for the Formula 1 season-finale. Hamilton was locked level on points with title rival Max Verstappen heading into the final race last season, on the cusp of winning a record-breaking eighth World Championship. He was seemingly all set to do that, holding an 11-second lead over Verstappen with a handful of laps to run, until Nicholas Latifi's crash brought out the Safety Car. Race Director Michael Masi allowed some, but not all cars to overtake, clearing those between the two rivals for a one lap shootout many felt should not have counted as the Safety Car should have stayed out an extra lap. In any case, Verstappen overtook Hamilton on much fresher tyres to snatch the title on the final lap. One year later, Hamilton says he has no qualms about returning to Yas Marina. ...

Gasly has no regrets over Red Bull career: I'm stronger than I was

Image
Pierre Gasly insists that he has no regrets over his time with the Red Bull stable ahead of his impending switch to Alpine for 2023. The Frenchman first arrived in the sport back in 2017 with the then-called Toro Rosso outfit before being promoted to the main Red Bull team for the 2019 F1 season. However, midway through the campaign, Gasly was demoted back down to Toro Rosso after struggling to match the pace of teammate Max Verstappen. He went on to rebuild at the squad – now known as AlphaTauri – and claimed his debut Formula 1 victory at the 2020 Italian Grand Prix. Gasly's long stint with the Red Bull family is now coming to a close and, despite the ups and downs, he admits that he wouldn't change anything about the experience. Gasly: I'm a much stronger driver than I was When asked if his exit from the outfit sparked any feelings of not having had the chances he des...

Why Steiner has no regrets about previously dropping Magnussen

Image
Guenther Steiner insists that he has no regrets about dropping Kevin Magnussen and Romain Grosjean in favour of two rookie drivers for 2021, despite the team having now reverted to a more experienced line-up. At the end of 2020, Haas opted to bring in Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin for the following season, giving both their debut in F1 . The team sacrificed their 2021 car in order to focus on preparing for the new technical regulations in 2022, meaning that both rookies failed to score points in uncompetitive machinery. Mazepin was dropped ahead of the 2022 campaign following Russia's major military attack on Ukraine, and Magnussen made a surprise return to fill his seat. Schumacher remained but has lost his place at the squad for 2023, with Nico Hulkenberg making a comeback to race alongside Magnussen. Steiner doesn't regret rookie line-up While Haas now have two veteran ...
