F1 testing results: Full 2024 Bahrain pre-season lap times

Sainz set the quickest time on the second of the three days of testing , before the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix at the Sakhir circuit on 2 March. However, he set his lap using the C4 Pirelli tyre, which is not available next weekend. His Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc was second quickest overall, setting his best time on the final day, as did George Russell for Mercedes and Zhou Guanyu for Sauber. They all used the C4 for their fastest times . Red Bull Racing’s Sergio Perez (who was quickest overall in this test last year) and Max Verstappen lapped within a tenth of each other in fifth and sixth using the C3 tyre, which will be the soft next weekend. Yuki Tsunoda was seventh for RB, the rebranded AlphaTauri team, ahead of Alex Albon (Williams), Oscar Piastri (McLaren) and Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes). 2022 F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix - Free Practice 1 results

Lewis Hamilton topped the timesheets during the first practice session of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend. Hamilton's best time of 1:26.633 around the Yas Marina Circuit put him two tenths of a second clear of Mercedes teammate George Russell, while Charles Leclerc took third. Sergio Perez and rookie driver Liam Lawson claimed fourth and fifth respectively for Red Bull, and Sebastian Vettel slotted into P6. Max Verstappen set the pace during the second practice session of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend. The Red Bull driver topped the timesheets with a lap of 1:25.146 around the Yas Marina Circuit, while George Russell – winner last time out in Brazil – slotted into P2. Sergio Perez topped the timesheets during the third and final practice session of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend. Perez led the way with a time of 1:24.982 around the Yas Marina Circuit, ahead of teammate Max Verstappen, while Lewis Hamilton took third. 2022 F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Qualifying results

Max Verstappen will start from pole position for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix ahead of Sergio Perez and Charles Leclerc. The Red Bull driver was 0.228s quicker on his lap compared to Perez, while Leclerc was a further 0.268s back. Carlos Sainz will start from P4 and the two Mercedes lockout the third row of the grid. F1 2022 Abu Dhabi GP - Race results

Max Verstappen rounded out the Formula 1 season with victory in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix as Charles Leclerc snatched P2 in the championship. It was a dominant drive from Verstappen for a 15th win of the season, as the main focus was on the battle for runner-up in the standings between Leclerc and Sergio Perez . Perez was set for P2, but elected to go onto a two-stopper, as Leclerc just about hung on from the charging Red Bull for second in the race and standings. Elsewhere, Lewis Hamilton 's run of a win in every season ended with a late hydraulic failure as Sebastian Vettel finished his final race in 10th. Gasly confident of 'fantastic results' with Alpine

New Alpine signing Pierre Gasly believes his new team have the potential to achieve " fantastic results " in 2023 and beyond. The Frenchman is moving to Alpine after five and a half seasons in F1 that have been spent driving solely for Red Bull-affiliated teams. Gasly's first run in an Alpine came at the post-season test in Abu Dhabi, and the Frenchman has since talked up his prospects with the Enstone-based outfit, who moved up one place in the Constructors' Championship in 2022 to finish fourth. "I'm very confident from what I've seen that there's potential to achieve fantastic results," Gasly told media, including TheFOXposts.Com .
