Leclerc's brother makes closer step to racing in F1

Ferrari junior driver Arthur Leclerc, brother of Charles Leclerc , will join the Formula 2 grid in 2023 with DAMS. Leclerc steps up to the F1 feeder series after two seasons in Formula 3, where he scored two victories in his rookie season in 2020 at Le Castellet and Zandvoort. This year he finished sixth in the Drivers' Championship after a single victory at Silverstone. His first taste of F2 machinery will be with DAMS at the post-season test at Yas Marina this week between 23-25 November. “I’m delighted to be making the step up to Formula 2 with DAMS in 2023. Why Doohan is reluctant to take F1 reserve driver role

Jack Doohan admits that he is reluctant to take a reserve driver role in Formula 1 just yet after missing out on a possible race seat for 2023. The Alpine Academy driver has previously spoken of his attempts to be considered for the spot in the team that became available when Fernando Alonso announced his departure for Aston Martin. This position later went to Pierre Gasly, while Doohan looks set to remain in Formula 2 after finishing the 2022 championship in sixth place. The Australian is keen to focus on racing going forwards, rather than taking on a reserve role in F1. Red Bull junior Lawson leaves F2 for Japanese series

Red Bull junior driver Liam Lawson will swap F2 for Japan's Super Formula in 2023. The 20-year-old finished in third place in the 2022 Formula 2 championship, just 15 points away from second-placed Theo Pourchaire, while Felipe Drugovich clinched the title. Lawson also took part in Free Practice 1 sessions over F1 weekends for both Red Bull and AlphaTauri, and finished P5 on the timesheets in his outing for Red Bull on Friday at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Now the driver from New Zealand will make the next step in his racing career by joining Team Mugen in Super Formula.
