The tests Leclerc and Ferrari must pass before Hamilton's arrival

Five wins in five years is hardly the return Charles Leclerc hoped for when he embarked upon his journey with Ferrari in Formula 1. His collection of 23 pole positions has translated into victories only four times, perfectly symbolic of his tenure at the Prancing Horse.

Although he bears the responsibility for a few of those failures to convert, most have not been Leclerc’s fault. Ferrari has been plagued by a handful of false dawns, the team’s sloppy strategy calls and untimely unreliability issues serving to restrict Leclerc’s appearances on the top step of the podium.

Hulkenberg reveals how he 'broke the ice' with Magnussen

Nico Hulkenberg has revealed how he " broke the ice" with new Formula 1 teammate Kevin Magnussen by repeating his own words back to him. Hulkenberg is to replace Mick Schumacher at Haas in 2023 and drive alongside Magnussen as he returns to full-time Grand Prix racing for the first time since 2019. The two had an infamous incident at the 2017 Hungarian Grand Prix, where Magnussen pushed Hulkenberg's Renault wide through Turns 2 and 3. In the media pen post-race, Hulkenberg confronted Magnussen who retorted that the German should "suck my b***s". Magnussen has been adamant that he has no problems with Hulkenberg joining the team, whilst the German says he greeted his new teammate with the same words used in Budapest earlier in 2022. Video: The Red Bull machine powers on at the F1 Saudi Arabian GP

While Red Bull remains in the spotlight off the track for different reasons, Verstappen notched up his 56th career F1 win and his 100th podium in total as he comfortably won in Jeddah ahead of team-mate Sergio Perez. Elsewhere Oliver Bearman impressed on his surprise F1 debut as stand-in for Carlos Sainz who was ruled out with appendicitis, while Kevin Magnussen picked up two in-race penalties but was still able to aid Haas team-mate Nico Hulkenberg’s charge to 10th and the team’s first point of the season.
