Schumacher rules out possible career move after Haas F1 exit

Mick Schumacher has ruled out a possible switch to DTM in 2023 following his impending exit from the Haas F1 team.

It was confirmed ahead of the 2022 finale in Abu Dhabi that Schumacher's place at the squad will be taken by Nico Hulkenberg next season, with Kevin Magnussen remaining in the other seat as part of his multi-year contract.

With seemingly no places available on the F1 grid – should Logan Sargeant secure enough superlicence points to take the final spot at Williams – it looks likely that Schumacher will not be racing in Formula 1 in 2023.

However, the German is not ready to switch to another category just yet.

Schumacher says no to possible DTM move

It is not unheard of for F1 drivers to compete in DTM, with Alex Albon amongst those to take part while on the sidelines in Formula 1.

When asked about the possibility of racing there himself, Schumacher suggested that he is keen to remain in the F1 paddock.

"No, just no," Schumacher told media, including TheFOXposts.Com, in response to a question about switching to DTM.

"Because I don't want to right now. I want to stay in this paddock. Whatever comes around, I'll have to obviously have a look at it.

"But right now, with DTM especially, it's not the same as it was in the past anymore, so right now it's not an option."

Schumacher reveals 'multiple talks' over future

Like Daniel Ricciardo, Schumacher has been linked to a possible reserve driver position for 2023, with Mercedes thought to be a potential destination.

The 23-year-old says that talks have taken place with "different teams" as he looks to assess his options.

"There have been multiple talks," Schumacher explained.

"We've been in touch with different teams and it's just now elaborating what options I have to then pick the right one for me."
