WATCH: Mercedes smash Nordschleife record with F1-engined road car

In 2017 Mercedes announced the AMG One, a one-of-a-kind hypercar that uses Formula 1 Technology.

The car utilises the hybrid power unit used in the W06 F1 car that peddled Lewis Hamilton to a third championship in 2015.

The 1.6 litre V6 produces 566bhp and uses the same MGU-H and MGU-K technology seen in modern F1 power units. Altogether the Mercedes AMG One boasts a combined output of 1,049bhp.

To unleash the full power drivers can put the car into 'Strat 2' which turns on the active aerodynamics, lowers the car, and increases the output from the engine.

The power unit is produced at the Mercedes High Performance Powertrains division based in Brixworth, while F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton also worked on development of the car.

In traditional form, the car-maker took to the Nordschleife to see how quickly it could set a lap around the 12.9 mile circuit.
