Tsunoda hopes 'big updates' for Imola can get AlphaTauri back on track

Yuki Tsunoda is hoping that "big updates" planned for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix will get AlphaTauri back on track, after a disappointing start to the season.

The AlphaTauri driver qualified in P17 but managed to recover to P11 in Miami after pulling off moves in the opening stages of the race, notably running side-by-side with Zhou Guanyu at the Turn 14 chicane before using his straight-line speed to get past at Turn 17.

"It's kind of a trend of AlphaTauri, sometimes when the qualifying is bad the race is good. So obviously we have to find out why we are good, but it's really pretty surprising," he told media, including TheFOXposts.Com.

"It's good that I'm able to definitely extract the performance every race – more than last year."

Tsunoda banking on updates to change fortunes

AlphaTauri currently only have two points in the Constructors' Championship, after Tsunoda finished 10th in the triple red flagged Melbourne and Baku.

The team have upgrades coming that they hope will sort out many of the problems on their AT04, which is one of the worst cars on the grid in terms of how it suffers from drag on the straights.

"We gotta have hopefully big updates at Imola next, so hopefully that will work well," Tsunoda explained.
